Gar-Field finishes in 6th place in Northwest Regional
(2/17/08) Gar-Field will send two wrestlers to the states this weekend after placing 6th in the Northwest Regional tournament at Woodbridge high school this past weekend. Gar-Field finished with a team total 69.5 points. Colonial Forge won the tournament with 275 points.Gar-Field was hoping to have three wrestlers crowned the Northwest champions in their weight class on Saturday afternoon. It was not to be. Gar-Field's big three, Ray Dickerson (135LBS.), Porker Bowers (171LBS.), and Stephen Young (285LBS.) only had 3-losses between them all year. They totaled 4 on Saturday.
Ray Dickerson got pinned in his second match of the day and then lost by injury default in his last match finishing 6th overall in the 135lb. weight class. Porker Bowers also lost by injury default early in the day, but came back to win his last two matches finishing third earning a trip to states at 171lbs. Stephen Young made it to the championship match in the heavyweight class losing a major decision to Fauquier's Nick Cook 13-5. Cook was simply to big and strong for Gar-Field's Young whose true weight is around 245lbs.

Indian's have 5 Champions overallRay Dickerson pinned his opponent in the 135lb. championship match in 54 seconds. A.J. Baggott who has been a pleasant surprise this year won the 145lb. championship 7-4. As expected, Porker Bowers at 171lbs. was crowned champion with a 15-0 tech fall victory. Adam Lauer won the 215lb. championship 6-2. In the heavyweight championship match, Stephen Young pinned his opponent in 2:36. Young (42-0) remained undefeated for the season. Indians have big day at Riverbend
(2/4/08) Gar-Field even surprised coach Rick Seipp by doing so well in the Riverbend Super 32 Invitational Tournament Saturday Feb. 2 at Riverbend high school in Fredericksburg. Gar-Field's big three...Stephen Young (275lbs), Porker Bowers (171lbs), and Ray Dickerson (135lbs) all finished first in their weight class.
Gar-Field finishes 8th in the Marine Corps Ultimate Challenge
(2/1/08) Gar-Field placed six wrestlers out of nine in the top 6 in the Marine Corps Challenge at Colonial Forge high school Jan. 26th. Gar-Field was without two of its top wrestlers. Stephen Young (275lbs) was on a recruiting trip and Ray Dickerson (135lbs.) was ill. Adam Lauer (215lbs.) won first place in his weight class while Porker Bowers (171lbs) finished second in his. Bowers lost 8-6 to the #1 ranked wrestler in the state. David Yoder had a nice run finishing third in the 189lb. class.
